NanoSperse Celebrates 15 Years of Aerospace Excellence with Cutting-Edge Composite Materials

2024-07-26

NanoSperse (Kettering, Ohio, U.S.), a privately held, management-owned small business dedicated to the design, development, and manufacturing of advanced composites, is celebrating 15 years of service to the aerospace community.

Supported by Air Force ManTech funding, NanoSperse opened its 20,000-square-foot facility in Kettering (Dayton), Ohio, in 2009. Since then, the company has developed innovative erosion coatings for Air Force and Navy aircraft, specialized conductive adhesives for spacecraft, and qualified novel radius filler technology for next-generation aircraft composite wings. They are also working on novel epoxy compounds for 3D printed tooling, composite compounds for complex molded parts, and low-cost compression moldable structures for unmanned systems.

Recently, the company has demonstrated lightweight radiation shielding materials for spacecraft and received Air Force funding to advance this technology.

From inception, the company has adhered to AS9100 quality standards, serving many major U.S. aerospace and defense companies. Their activities center around design and development for specific customer needs, ensuring rapid material innovation transitions and cost-effective production capabilities.

In the broader aerospace sector, Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) composites have become crucial. FRP composites offer high strength-to-weight ratios, corrosion resistance, and durability, making them ideal for various aerospace applications such as fuselage components, wing structures, and spacecraft panels. The integration of FRP composites enhances the performance and longevity of aerospace structures while reducing overall weight, which is essential for fuel efficiency and payload capacity.
